How To Make Mommy Friends
Being a mom is sometimes a thankless job. Consuming your self with the day to day activities of your child and the home life can overwhelm you, leaving you with very little time for anything else. Thought making friends was hard in high school? Try making friend with another busy mom!
When I became a mother, some odd years ago, I struggled with finding mom friends. My daughter consumed my time so much to the point that I didn’t have time to seek new friends. As my daughter got older I started to crave friends and a social life that didn’t involve Blue’s Clues and Barney. It took me some time to find some likeminded mommy friends, but I’m going to save you the trouble and give you some tips to make it way easier for you. Here it goes. How to find mommy friends?
- Mom Groups on Meet-up Meet-Up is a website/app that allows you to connect with people that are local and share the same interests with you. I joined meet-up and was able to find a number of mommy groups. They ranged from groups that met up once a week to do yoga in the park, to groups that allows you to mingle while your children played.
- The Playground
Kids love playgrounds! Moms love them too. It gives parents a few precious moments of silence and allows them to concentrate on small things they may need to get done. This is the perfect time to chat up that mother you always see at the playground. She’s probably craving adult conversation from being with a toddler all day, too. Strike up a conversation by asking her about a book she may be reading, or that famous stroller that’s all the rage. From there, possibly exchange email address to keep in touch or set up play dates. A email address is less risky but still suggests that you want to keep in touch.
- Extracurricular events
One of the best places to find mommy friends is possibly a place you go frequently. Cheer practice, soccer, dance class. All of your child’s extracurricular activities are the perfect time to get to know another mom or two. While tor child is practicing or playing in a game, you cash chat about current events, or even that guilty pleasure reality tv show you love. You have to be at these events, you may as well use them to your advantage. Get to know that mom that cheers that child on a loud octaves.
